۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these idols to which you cling so passionately?" 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them". 53 He said, "Both you and your fathers have certainly been in error." 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 They asked (on return): "Who has done this to our gods? He is surely a mischief-monger." 59 Said some [of them]: "We heard a youth speak of these [gods with scorn]: he is called Abraham." 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?" they enquired. 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." 64 But then they relapsed into their former way of thinking and said: "Thou knowest very well that these [idols] cannot speak!" 65 He said, "Do you, instead of God, worship things that can neither harm nor benefit you?" 66 Fie upon you and that you serve apart from God! Do you not understand?' 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 But We said, "Fire! Be cool and a means of safety for Abraham." 69 They had devised an evil plan (against Abraham), but We turned it into failure." 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 And We caused him to enter into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous. 75
