The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
