Al-Hijjr 3 of 6
Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered, 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 All the angels prostrated before Adam 30 Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered! 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 excepting those Thy servants among them that are devoted. 40 God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
