The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
A caller supplicated about a punishment to fall on 1 Upon the disbelievers – the punishment that none can avert. 2 [since it will come] from God, unto whom there are many ways of ascent: 3 The angels and Jibreel, ascend towards Him – the punishment will befall on a day which spans fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 Verily! They see it (the torment) afar off, 6 But We see it very near. 7 It shall befall on a Day whereon the sky will become like molten brass, 8 And the mountains will be like wool, 9 No loyal friend will ask another loyal friend 10 They will be seeing them; the guilty will wish if only he could redeem himself from the punishment of that day, by offering his sons. 11 And his wife and his brother, 12 his kinsmen who gave him refuge (from hardship) 13 And all who are on the earth; so that this might deliver him. 14 Never! That is indeed a blazing fire. 15 will strip-off the flesh 16 It shall call him who turneth back and backslideth. 17 And collect (wealth) and hide it (from spending it in the Cause of Allah). 18 ۞ Indeed man is created very impatient, greedy. 19 Very nervous when touched by misfortune. 20 but when good comes upon him, he is grudging 21 Not so, however, those who consciously turn towards God in prayer. 22 Those who are constant in their prayer 23 who, from their wealth is a known right 24 For the beggar and the destitute; 25 who confirm the Day of Reckoning 26 and who stand in dread of their Sustainer's chastisement 27 Verily! The torment of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure, 28 and guard their private parts 29 except from their wives and what their right hands own, for these they are not blameworthy. 30 But whosoever seeks beyond that, they are the transgressors. 31 And those who keep their trusts and covenants; 32 And those who stand firm in their testimonies; 33 And those who guard their Salat (prayers) well. 34 They will live in gardens with honour. 35
