Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 I call to witness the lucent Book, 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 And surely it is in the original of the Book with Us, truly elevated, full of wisdom. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 And how many a prophet have We sent among the ancients. 6 but whenever a prophet came to them, they mocked him, 7 So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old. 8 If thou wert to question them, 'Who created the heavens and the earth?' They would be sure to reply, 'they were created by (Him), the Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge';- 9 He it is Who made this earth for you a cradle and made in it pathways for you that you may find the way to your destination; 10 Who sent down water in due measure from the sky, then quickened a region that was dead -- So shall We bring you forth -- 11 And Who has created all the pairs and has appointed for you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 Yet they make some of His servants partners in His divinity. Man is clearly ungrateful! 15
