The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy; 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 from a spring named salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
