The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 When Shu'eyb said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 "So fear Allah and obey me. 179 I ask no recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Give a full measure and be not of those who diminish; 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 "And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land. 183 "And fear Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old." 184 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched, 185 "You are but a human being like us and verily, we think that you are one of the liars! 186 “Therefore cause a part of the sky to fall upon us, if you are of the truthful.” 187 He said, "My Lord knows all that you do." 188 They rejected him, and then had to suffer the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom. That was indeed the punishment of an awful day. 189 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 190 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 191
