50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the emissary winds, (sent) one after another 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force, 2 And scatter (things) far and wide; 3 separating one from another, 4 Then spread abroad a Message, 5 Whether of Justification or of Warning;- 6 Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall. 7 So when the lights of the stars are put out. 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 And when the mountains are carried away as dust, 10 And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed - 11 For what day is it timed? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients, 16 and then follow them with the later folk? 17 Thus do We deal with the criminals. 18 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 19 Did We not create you from a humble fluid, 20 Then We placed it in a secure resting-place, 21 till a known term decreed? 22 We then calculated; so how excellently do We control! 23 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 24 Have We not made the earth (as a place) to draw together. 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 and did We not firmly fix towering mountains on it and give you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 28 “Move towards what you used to deny!” 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 “Which neither gives shade, nor saves from the flame.” 31 Indeed hell throws up sparks like huge castles. 32 Seeming like yellow camels. 33 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 34 They will not be able to speak that day, 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 37 that Day of Distinction [between the true and the false, when they will be told]: "We have brought you together with those [sinners] of olden times; 38 If now you have any strategy, use it against Me. 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
