The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 shall call for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
