Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah." But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]." 64 O FOLLOWERS of earlier revelation! Why do you argue about Abraham, seeing that the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed till [long] after him? Will you not, then, use your reason? 65 Here you are - those who have argued about that of which you have [some] knowledge, but why do you argue about that of which you have no knowledge? And Allah knows, while you know not. 66 No, Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Nazarene. He was of pure faith, a submitter (Muslim). He was never of the idolaters. 67 Surely, the people who are closest to Abraham are those who followed him and this Prophet [Muhammad], and those who believe in him. God is the guardian of the believers. 68 A group among the People of the Book would love to mislead you but they mislead no one but themselves. However, they do not realize it. 69 (Muhammad), say, "People of the Book, why do you deny the revelation of God (the Quran) even though you know very well that it is from God?. 70 People of the Book! Why do you confound the truth with vanity, and conceal the truth and that wittingly? 71
