He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 So you are after him! 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
