Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
