Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 In a lofty garden, 22 its fruits are near. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
