The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
