Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 He asks: “When will the Day of Resurrection be?” 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and moon are joined together,- 9 on that Day the human will ask: 'To (which place) shall I flee' 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 Nay! man is evidence against himself, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation. 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 But no. You love this transient life, 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 and when leg is intertwined with leg, 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
