Believers, do not devour usury multiplied many times over. Fear God, so that you may prosper, 130 And fear the Fire, which is prepared for the disbelievers. 131 And obey Allah and the Noble Messenger, hoping that you gain mercy. (Obeying the Prophet is in fact obeying Allah.) 132 ۞ Be quick in the race for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a Garden whose width is that (of the whole) of the heavens and of the earth, prepared for the righteous,- 133 who expend in prosperity and adversity in almsgiving, and restrain their rage, and pardon the offences of their fellowmen; and God loves the good-doers; 134 And those who, if they commit a shameful act or some wrong against themselves, remember God and seek forgiveness for their sins: For who can forgive except God? They should not be perverse about their doings, knowingly. 135 Those - their reward is forgiveness from their Lord and gardens beneath which rivers flow [in Paradise], wherein they will abide eternally; and excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers. 136 Many similar ways (and mishaps of life) were faced by nations (believers and disbelievers) that have passed away before you (as you have faced in the battle of Uhud), so travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who disbelieved (in the Oneness of Allah, and disobeyed Him and His Messengers). 137 This is an explanation for mankind, a guidance and an advice to the pious. 138 Do not be discouraged or grieved. You alone will have true dignity if you only are true believers. 139 If misfortune touches you, [know that] similar misfortune has touched [other] people as well; for it is by turns that We apportion unto men such days [of fortune and misfortune]: and [this] to the end that God might mark out those who have attained to faith, and choose from among you such as [with their lives] bear witness to the truth - since God does not love evildoers 140 And that Allah may test (or purify) the believers (from sins) and destroy the disbelievers. 141 Did you think that you could go to Paradise before God knew which of you fought for His cause and which of you bore patience? 142 For, indeed, you did long for death [in God's cause] before you came face to face with it; and now you have seen it with your own eyes! 143
