This is the reasoning We gave to Abraham against his people, We raise in rank anyone We please, your Lord is wise and aware. 83 And We gave to him Isaac and Jacob -- each one We guided, And Noah We guided before; and of his seed David and Solomon, Job and Joseph, Moses and Aaron -- even so We recompense the good-doers -- 84 and (Prophets) Zachariah, John, Jesus and Elias, each was of the righteous, 85 And Ismael (Ishmael) and Yasa’a (Elisha) and Yunus (Jonah) and Lut (Lot); and to each one during their times, We gave excellence over all others. 86 From their fathers, descendants, and brothers, We chose (certain) people and guided them to the right path. 87 This is the Guidance of Allah with which He guides whomsoever He will of His slaves. But if they had joined in worship others with Allah, all that they used to do would have been of no benefit to them. 88 Those were the people to whom We gave the Book and the Law and the Prophethood. But if they reject these things We shall entrust them to a people who will not deny. 89 Those are the ones whom Allah has guided, so from their guidance take an example. Say, "I ask of you for this message no payment. It is not but a reminder for the worlds." 90
