۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 Are we not then to die 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
