Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HA MIM. 1 By oath of this clear Book. 2 We have sent it down in a blessed night (We are ever warning) 3 On this night, every absolute command coming from Us becomes distinguishable. 4 by Our own command -- We have been sending messages, 5 in pursuance of thy Sustainer's grace [unto man]. Verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing, 6 Lord of the heavens and earth, and all that between them is if you have faith. 7 There is no Allah save Him. He quickeneth and giveth death; your Lord and Lord of your forefathers. 8 Rather they are in doubt, playing. 9 Then watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke. 10 covering the people; this is a painful chastisement. 11 'O our Lord, remove Thou from us the chastisement; we are believers.' 12 [But] how shall this remembrance avail them [at the Last Hour,] seeing that an apostle had previously come unto them, clearly expounding the truth, 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 Yet We will hold the scourge back for a while, (but no sooner than We will do so) you will revert to your old ways. 15 However, We shall truly take Our revenge on the day when the great seizure takes place. 16 ۞ Indeed before that We subjected the Pharaonites to the same test. A noble Messenger came to them 17 (and said): “Deliver to me Allah's servants. I am a trustworthy Messenger to you, 18 Do not consider yourselves above God. I shall show you a manifest authority (in support of my truthfulness). 19 And verily I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me. 20 And if ye will not believe in me, then let me alone. 21 Then he supplicated to his Lord saying: 'These are sinful people' 22 [Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued. 23 "And leave the sea as it is (quiet and divided). Verily, They are a host to be drowned." 24 They left how many gardens and fountains, 25 And cornfields and goodly positions. 26 And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight! 27 Thus. And We caused to inherit it another people. 28 Neither heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they allowed any respite. 29
