Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)? 24 When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me," 25 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf; 26 He then presented it before them and said, “Do you not eat?” 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 They said: "Thus said your Lord. He is indeed all-wise and all-knowing." 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: And (afterward) what is your errand, O ye sent (from Allah)? 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 “That are kept marked, with your Lord, for the transgressors.” 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah). 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 There is another sign in Moses: We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 Then We laid hold of him and his hosts and flung them into the sea, and he was reproachable. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 Which turned everything it touched to ashes. 42 And in Thamood it was said to them: 'Take your enjoyment for awhile' 43 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
