The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Merciful 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He has created man: 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
