Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips! 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 The moon eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 And so when We recite it, follow its recitation attentively; 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
