The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 a fitting requital, 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
