The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
