Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
