The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
