And they ask you (O Muhammad SAW) concerning the Ruh (the Spirit); Say: "The Ruh (the Spirit): it is one of the things, the knowledge of which is only with my Lord. And of knowledge, you (mankind) have been given only a little." 85 Had We wanted, We could have removed the Spirit through whom We sent you revelation. Then you would not have found anyone to intercede with Us for you 86 except through the special mercy of your Lord. His favours towards you has been great indeed. 87 Say, "If mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to each other assistants." 88 And We have explained to man, in this Qur'an, every kind of similitude: yet the greater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude! 89 And they say: we shall by no means believe in thee until thou causest for us to gush forth from the earth a fountain. 90 "Or (until) thou have a garden of date trees and vines, and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst, carrying abundant water; 91 or cause the sky to fall on us in pieces as you claimed, or bring Allah and the angels before us, face to face; 92 or thou have a house [made] of gold, or thou ascend to heaven - but nay, we would not [even] believe in thy ascension unless thou bring down to us [from heaven] a writing which we [ourselves] could read! Say thou, [O Prophet:] "Limitless in His glory is my Sustainer! Am I, then, aught but a mortal man, an apostle?" 93
