The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And your garments purify! 4 Pollution shun! 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 May he be condemned! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
