I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning for people -- 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 From the guilty. 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
