The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
