The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to the stinters; 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 on a Great Day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
