Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
