Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 Does man think that no one will ever have power over him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Does he, then, think that no one sees him? 7 Did We not grant him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And did We not show him the two highroads (of good and evil)? 10 Yet he has not scaled the height. 11 And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is? 12 The freeing of a slave, 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 Or some poor wretch in misery, 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
