The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
