And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
