Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 then by the distributors (angels), ordered; 4 Verily that wherewith ye are threatened is surely true. 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 Indeed the pious are among Gardens and water springs. 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And every morning asked forgiveness, 18 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
