He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you attend to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and in awe [of God] 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and herbage 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
