Whenever We sent a prophet to a town, We took up its people in suffering and adversity, in order that they might learn humility. 94 Then We changed the misfortune into prosperity to the extent that they became numerous and said, “Indeed grief and comfort did reach our ancestors” – so We seized them suddenly in their neglect. 95 And if only the people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth; but they denied [the messengers], so We seized them for what they were earning." 96 Did the people of the towns then feel secure against the coming of Our Punishment by night while they are asleep? 97 Or, do they feel secure against the coming of Our punishment upon them in the forenoon while they are at play? 98 Do they feel secure against the design of Allah None can feel secure against the design of Allah except the utter losers. 99
