Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
