He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 For him who does not care, 5 you attended to him, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruit and grass - 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
