The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 On a grievous day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is a written book, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
