Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Praise belongs to God who created the heavens and the earth and appointed the shadows and light; then the unbelievers ascribe equals to their Lord. 1 He it is who created you of clay and then decreed a term - and a term determined is with Him - yet ye waver. 2 And He is Allah in the heavens and in the earth; He knows your secret (thoughts) and your open (words), and He knows what you earn. 3 Yet every time a sign of their Lord comes to them, they turn away from it, 4 So they disbelieved the truth when it came to them; but they will soon come to know the reality of what they had ridiculed. 5 Do they not see how many a generation We have destroyed before their time - [people] whom We had given a [bountiful] place on earth, the like of which We never gave unto you, and upon whom We showered heavenly blessings abundant, and at whose feet We made running waters flow? And yet we destroyed them for their sins, and gave rise to other people in their stead. 6 And if We had sent to you a writing on a paper, then they had touched it with their hands, certainly those who disbelieve would have said: This is nothing but clear enchantment. 7 'Why has an angel not been sent down on him?' they say; yet had We sent down an angel, the matter would have been determined, and then no respite would be given them. 8 And if We had made him an angel, We would have made him [appear as] a man, and We would have covered them with that in which they cover themselves. 9 Mocked were (many) messengers before thee; but their scoffers were hemmed in by the thing that they mocked. 10
