Mary (Maryam)
98 verses, revealed in Mecca after Initiator (Faater) before T H (Taa Haa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Kaf. Ha. Ya. 'Ayn. Sad. 1 [This is] a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zechariah 2 When he called out to his Sustainer in the secrecy of his heart, 3 He said: O my Lord! verily the bones of me have waxen feeble, and the head is glistening with hoariness, and have not yet been in my prayer to thee, my Lord, unblest. 4 Indeed, I fear my kinsmen who will succeed me, for my wife is barren. Grant me a kinsman 5 Inheriting me and inheriting the Children of Ya'qub; and make him, my Lord, acceptable! 6 (Allah said) "O Zakariya (Zachariah)! Verily, We give you the glad tidings of a son, His name will be Yahya (John). We have given that name to none before (him)." 7 He said: O my Lord! when shall I have a son, and my wife is barren, and I myself have reached indeed the extreme degree of old age? 8 [An angel] said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, for I created you before, while you were nothing.' " 9 [Zachariah] prayed: "O my Sustainer! Appoint a sign for me!" Said [the angel]: "Thy sign shall be that for full three nights [and days] thou wilt not speak unto men". 10 Then he came out from the Sanctuary to his nation, and gestured to them to exalt (their Lord) at the dawn and at the evening. 11 [Allah] said, "O John, take the Scripture with determination." And We gave him judgement [while yet] a boy 12 And compassion from Our presence, and purity; and he was devout, 13 And dutiful towards his parents, and he was neither an arrogant nor disobedient (to Allah or to his parents). 14 So peace on him the day he was born, the day he will die, and the day that he will be raised from the dead. 15
