The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount; 1 And the Book written 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 by the much-visited House, 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 there is none to avert it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
