The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
