The unbelieving assembly of his nation, who belied the encounter of the Everlasting Life, and on whom We had bestowed ease in this life, said: 'This is but a human like yourselves; he eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 Does he give you a promise that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be raised to life again? 35 ۞ Such a promise will never come true. 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 He said, 'In a little they will be remorseful.' 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No nation can live beyond its allotted time, or lag behind. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Whenever a Messenger came to his people they rejected him, calling him a liar. Thereupon, We made each people to follow the other (to its doom), reducing them to mere tales (of the past). Scourged be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 So they cried them lies, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Prophet Eisa) and his mother a sign, and We gave them shelter on a height, a place to stay and visible springs. 50
