The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He hath created man. 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Wherein are fruit and sheathed palm-trees, 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 25
