The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
