Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 and you are a lodger in this country. 2 And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], 3 that We have created the human being to face a great deal of hardship. 4 Thinketh he that none hath power over him? 5 He boasts, "I have spent wealth abundant!" 6 Does he then think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 But he has made no effort to pass on the path that is steep. 11 What could let you know what the height is! 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 Or, feeding, in a day of privation, 14 to an orphan near of kin; 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 They are those on the Right Hand (the dwellers of Paradise), 18 But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
