The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven with its impregnable castles; 1 By the Promised Day! 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 the people of the pit were destroyed 4 Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel: 5 When they were sitting at its edge. 6 And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses. 7 whom they hated for no other reason than that they believed in God, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy, 8 God to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and God is Witness over everything. 9 Surely for those who persecute believers, men and women, and do not repent afterwards, is the punishment of Hell, and the punishment of burning. 10 Indeed those who believed and did good deeds – for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow; this is the great success. 11 Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern. 12 Verily He! He it is who beginneth and repeateth it. 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate, 14 – the Lord of the Glorious Throne, 15 Doer of what He will. 16 Have you not heard about the stories of the armies 17 Of Pharaoh and (the tribe of) Thamud? 18 In fact the disbelievers are in denial. 19 While Allah encompasses them from behind. 20 Aye! it is a Recitation glorious, 21 written on a preserved Tablet. 22
